Alvar Aalto, 45 Chair, set of 6.
Aalto designed the 45 Chair in 1947. The frame is composed of solid and laminated birch with linen cross-woven webbing acting as support for seat and back. The armrests are wrapped in rattan, adding a naturalist feature and tactility, as was used in several of Aalto’s architectural projects.
The 45 Chair is a generous and comfortable chair designed to take various linen webbings and a quilted upholstery. A fully upholstered version was introduce as the 46 Chair in the same year.
The examples offered are approximately 20 years old and were previously used at the Finnish Institute, London.
